The 3-day has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life. Fifteen years ago, my family's life was rocked with the news of my mother having breast cancer. She was 52, and was told that her form of cancer was very aggressive and tough to treat. Our family came together and supported our mother through surgery and chemotherapy treatments. Her attitude was remarkable. She showed such strength and courage, that we had no choice but to move on and fight alongside her. I am happy to say, fifteen years later, that my mom is living CANCER FREE!!
I know that my mother, along with another one of my teammates this weekend, is here because of the Susan G. Komen foundation and the 3-day walk. All of our hard work fundraising and raising awareness along our 60 mile route has helped save the lives of our loved ones. I am always so moved by the individuals walking alongside us and can't help but feel like a part of a huge breast cancer fighting family. I know that Philly won't let us down! I can't wait to begin our 3-day journey of love, fun, support and awareness!
